We can make a difference
Chinese Newcomers Service Center (CNSC) has served its community
for over 42 years. Its services included
various vocational training programs that had transformed peoples’ lives for a
better tomorrow. In recent years, budget-cut
has affected many social and government services. Education received the largest
dent. This not only decelerates our
children’s education, but constrained their opportunity for higher education.
Today’s students are our future leaders. Teach
them well and they will grow to lead us well. Education is invaluable and can be a major key to
leadership and success. CNSC recognizes this through its long history of
offering vocational training. In tune with its mission statement, CNSC’s board
of director overwhelming voted to create affordable SAT workshops to offer under-served students’ the opportunity to excel in their college entrance
exam.
Executive Director, Carlos
Serrano-Quan says, “We’ve had many students volunteering at CNSC during this
summer, and we found that many couldn’t afford private tutoring or going to
tutoring centers. We believe that by providing a high quality low-cost
alternative SAT prep, these disadvantaged youths will have an equal opportunity to achieve success.” |
